Explore Vibrant South Congress Ave: A Walk Through Austin’s Iconic Shopping and Dining Hub
All right, so I'm out here, um, right kind of near the, the pen that was dropped for, uh, South Congress and Elizabeth Street. Um, the pen is actually inside the School for Deaf and blind, which is right here, but, um, it is gated, so we can't exactly go directly inside of it, um, but this is the main street right here on South Congress, um, you know, one of the most popular, uh, areas, uh, in Austin. Um. Also walking south down the street here, you could see um a ton of restaurants, you know, Sweet Green, they're shopping for Lululemon and Ray-Ban, even high-end stuff like Hermes is right down the street. Um, It is very busy though, um, pretty much all times of day, there's, uh, people, um, You know, drive around, the parking is kind of hard. It's all paid parking, so be prepared for that, um, to have to pay to park here on the street, um. Uh, but like I said, the area is very popular, lots of shops, restaurants, food. Some bars as well. Um, Pretty much anything you want. You can find them right here on South Congress, so, um. There even is coffee as well with Joe's Coffee, which is right, uh, down the street too. So, um, pleasant surprises, um, you know, that you can actually stay here. There's apartments as well, um. As all of the stores. Um, and restaurants and all of that. So, um, there's even offices. There's a Deloitte office right here as well. So, um, there'll be no shortage of things to do in the South Congress or SoCo area, um. Uh, so like I said, I'm right outside the pen, which is in here at the, um, school for the deaf and blind right here on South Congress. As you can see, um, pretty busy, lots of people out. Um, I think the best areas or pockets to stay in in this area are a little bit further down towards, um, you know, a few blocks down where more of the restaurants and, um, shops are, as you can see. Uh, the shops do kind of start up here at the top, uh, by the pen, but they go down for a few more blocks. So, um, I think staying down to closer towards the middle is probably where you wanna be, to be, um, you know, near all the action, um. Uh, in addition to just past it as well, um, you know, maybe 1 mile down, there's some other cool restaurants, a breakfast place, um, things like that, when it's also not as crazy busy there as well. So, um, you know, you can. Stay away a little bit from the craziness, um, but still be close by. Um, and, you know, downtown's right near there as well still. So, you're still close to the action, but, um, a little bit further. Um, so we got all the food, uh, you know, the restaurants and, and the bars there as well. in walking distance. Um, I would be cautious, um, staying a little bit further to the east, a couple of streets over. Um, there's not really that much to do over there until you get, um, You know, closer to downtown, anything, uh, east of here, you pretty much just get to the freeway, and it's all just neighborhoods. So, um, if wanting to stay close to the bars and the restaurants, this is the area you want. One of the ones that I mentioned and um not any further east. Uh, yeah, if you're looking to, uh, book here, I'd say around the South Congress area or just south of it, but not east of me.
