Morning Bliss: Explore the Tranquility of Austin's Sunshine Community Gardens

Hey, good morning everyone. Gary from City Vibe. It's a Thursday morning, August 14th. It's at 7:50 a.m. And uh Come start your day with me, taking a stroll through the Sunshine Community Gardens here. Uh, as you can see from the sign on the gate. Uh, the community gardens operates on land that is owned by the school for the blind and visually impaired. Which sits right next door. And this beautiful space sits between Burnett And Lamar just to the north of 45th. It's uh. Subdivided down into several 100 plots of different configurations. Some folks are out here. Growing beautiful fruits and veggies. The plots are more focused on flowers and something just caught my eye over here. Looks like someone's growing tomatoes. I could smell a tomato vines before we even got up to them. And the place is open to the public, uh, but my maxim while I'm out here is always to. Uh, take only memories and leave only footprints. And I'm sure you'll get on just fine. With the good folks of the Sunshine Community Gardens. Gary from City vibe here Thursday morning, just easing into the day over at the Sunshine Community Gardens here. Uh, one of my favorite sites out here are these gorge shaped. Uh, bird boxes, uh, that just sit right on the north edge of the community gardens, they actually are for, uh, purple mountains, these beautiful little birds that's. Uh, I'm not sure if it's sunrise and sunset, they come out, but, um, it really is a cherry on the Sundae when you see those little birds flocking in and out of those gourde shaped birdhouses. Talking of gourds, they've actually got some beautiful squash down here looks still on the vine. Everywhere you look, there's just something visually rich about this place, especially right around sunrise, you can just see the sun coming up there in the east.
