Discover Goldsmith's Hall: A Serene Oasis in the Heart of Austin Revealed Before School Rush

Hey, good morning everyone. Happy hump day. This is Gary from City Vibe. It's 10 a.m. you can hear the UT clock tower in the background. Uh, Wednesday, August 6th, and I'm just starting my day off. At the 40 acres. I'm right outside of the beautiful. Uh, Goldsmith Hall. This is the home of the UT. Architecture department. Um, it's also a, uh, a backdrop for, uh, a lot of graduation photographs. And quite rightly so, it's absolutely beautiful out here. Um, This building was designed by uh Paul Philippe Cret, I'm sure I'm pronouncing his name incorrectly, a French architect who uh designed the main UT building, the UT Tower. And let's take a look at Goldsmith Hall here, uh, it sits just to the south of the West Mall. Between West Mall and inner campus drive, and I just love these uh wrought iron details. These gates are just. Straight out of, uh, like an old Oxford College possibly, then these concrete balustrades up on the, uh, up on the second floor here. Uh, and then entering into the courtyard, what a beautiful time of day to be here. There's a patch of sun. Just highlights the uh the tile details around this. Little Greco-Roman pond here. And uh let me give you a 360. It's uh It's an interesting sort of juxtaposition of um. Of cultures and architectural styles, the The building itself is very Greco-Roman, the details on this pool specifically, but then you've got uh these four palm trees. Uh, that sit on the cardinal directions essentially north, south, east and west. And then this is your view now looking back through that archway. Beautiful. Happy hump day!
