Tensions Rise as Texas Democrats Face Possible Removal on Capitol Deadline Day

Hey everyone, it's uh. August 8th 11:37 a.m. Friday morning and this is Gary from City vibe over at the state capital. The Capitol grounds are really busy today. A lot of activity out here. It's a hot day, but, uh, there's enough of a breeze to keep things interesting. So, uh, yeah, a lot, a lot of tourists, a lot of visitors out here, uh, most of them blissfully unaware, I should imagine, of the drama that's unfolding. Uh, behind me, uh, it is crunch day, folks. It is deadline day. At the Capitol, um. The Texas House is due to reconvene today at 1 p.m. and um. Whether or not there is a quorum remains to be seen, but if Texas Democrats don't show up to make quorum, the governor has indicated that he will seek remedy through the Texas Supreme Court to have certain key members of the Democratic caucus removed from office. That's in combination with civil arrest warrants that are potentially going to be issued.
