UT Tower Renovation. Restoration of Historic UT Tower Underway to Preserve Iconic Structure for Future Generations

Hey everyone, it's Wednesday morning, June 18th, 9:20 a.m. This is Gary. I'm over on the 40 acres, just taking a look at the uh renovation project which is taking place on the main UT tower. Um The tagline for this project is, “our tower the next 100 years.”And, um, it's as much an exercise in marketing as it is in construction. I noticed that the temporary hoardings that have gone up to hide the uh construction supplies and equipment are printed with beautiful images of the tower And the project is… uh noisy. The project focuses on 33 R’s uh, renovation. Uh, rejuvenation and, uh, as you can see here, reimagining the space So the UT Tower has been around for almost 100 years, and really the mission of this project is to make sure that this, Iconic building is pristine for the next 100 years of Longhorns. And this is now just approaching inner campus drive just across from Turtle pond.
