Low Humidity Brings Austin Joggers to Lady Bird Lake Despite Murky Waters
Hey, good morning everyone. It's uh Thursday, July 24th, 7:49 a.m. and this is Gary with City Vibe out on the hike and bike trail. Um, uh, right at the inner section of Shoal Creek and Town Lake. And it is such a pretty morning y'all. Uh, humidity is low. Probably the nicest morning we've had so far this week. Uh, just turning the corner now, this is the little, uh, spit of land, uh, that sits between Shoal Creek here on the left, thank you, and, uh, Town Lake. Just uh there on the right. Essentially it's the point of confluence of those two bodies of water. Yeah, we're looking east now, of course, with the waterline tower just off there in the distance with the silhouetted against the rising sun, very picturesque. It's still early enough that we've got some of the more serious runners and run clubs out here on the trail and of course. Folks out walking their dogs. This uh This little Little rock wall here uh is usually inhabited by a family of ducks, but, uh, I don't see them this morning. Uh, Lake quality is not good though guys, as you can see, uh, with the heavy rains of the last few weeks, it's really turned up or churned up a lot of gunk. Uh, it does not look good out there and in fact I don't actually see any recreational lake users either at this point. And that's your view now, uh, just looking west. With the independent building coming into shot.
Hey everyone, it's Gary for City Vibe, Thursday morning out on the town Lake hike and bike trail. A beautiful morning folks, low humidity. Uh, probably the nicest morning that we've had so far this week. As you can see, plenty of folks out here enjoying it. Just a few patchy clouds up there. Sun rising there in the east, just cutting through those trees, um. And that's a little bridge actually that crosses over Shoal Creek. This is the, uh, the furthest eastern point of the little spit of land that separates Shoal Creek from Town Lake, and, uh, I noticed something interesting. This, um, Green device here. Just coming into shot. Uh, is actually Called a trash boom. And, uh, the idea is that, uh, you know, particularly after heavy rains, uh, you can get a lot of trash picked up, particularly in Shoal Creek, and to prevent it from coming into the lake, uh, parks and regs string out the green trash boom, and it seems to be working to a certain extent. Water quality in the lake really is not good. That's just to do with it all being churned up during those rains. uh, but what a beautiful shot of the Austin downtown skyline there. Sun just rising in the east. I hope you have a great day everyone.
