Construction Workers Protest Labor Dispute at Austin's 18th and Guadalupe

Hey everyone, it's Wednesday morning, July 16th, 9:36 a.m. This is Gary for City Vibe. I'm at the intersection of 18th and Guadalupe, and as you can see from the bright yellow sign here behind me. Carpenters Union local 1266 appears to be engaged in a labor dispute with a property developer. If you recall folks, a month or so ago, there were similar signs out on Congress Avenue and Rainy Street. The nature of this dispute seems to be the use of a contractor who's not aligned with the values that the Carpenters Union encourages for its members, and these protests are typically aimed to raise awareness and to encourage members of the public to encourage the property developers to only use Contractors who are aligned with the union's values. So, uh, that's your view from the inner section of 18th and Guadalupe.
