Protest Erupts at Texas State Capitol Over Transgender Rights Agenda

Hey everyone, it's Wednesday morning, July 23rd, 10:25. This is Gary with City Vibe. I'm over at the Texas State Capitol. Uh, today is day 3 of the special session. And um on the agenda this session is an item which includes, um, which is to do rather with transgender people, only using the bathrooms that corresponds with their sex assigned at birth. Obviously quite an emotive, evocative issue, a hot button topic if you will. And as you can see, it's brought out quite a visible and vocal protest. Let me just give you a minute just to take in the sights and sounds of this, “…for living in their beauty and for living in their freedom. Thank you…” Quite a small crowd here, a lot of uh. A lot of cameras, lot of photojournalists here. I don't want to get in anybody's way here, but let me just give you a shot now looking across south. “My name is Fiona and I'm here because I value personal safety for myself, for you and for all Texans.” OK, folks, so that's your view of the LGBTQ protest outside of the Texas State Capitol.
