Quiet Morning on Lady Bird Lake as Rowers Navigate Under Overcast Skies

Hey, good morning everyone. Happy Monday. It's July 14th, 8:01 a.m. and this is Gary for City Vibe, out on the Ladybird Lake hike and bike trail, just hanging out. With a bunch of waterfowl out here. This is one of those mornings where birds seem to outnumber people by about 10 to 1, uh, kind of a muggy overcast morning. Uh, we're on the backside of more heavy rains that came through yesterday. Uh, of course this section of the trail is paved, um, so really no concerns, um, in terms of running surfaces out here. I notice that someone's actually out here fishing. Look. This little spit of land is uh sits between uh Shoal Creek. And uh Ladybird lake. Essentially we're right at the inner section there are these two bodies of water. Um, trail activity is light. Uh, few dog walkers out here. Um Across the lake, let's see what we've got. Lake is still open for recreational traffic. I notice we've got a kayaker out there. I do see some people on the south side of the lake, uh, closer to auditorium shores. So obviously the trail is usable, you know, despite the, uh, amount of rain that we've had over the last week or two. Hey everyone, Monday morning. Gary from City Vibe and uh a bunch of ducks. Out watching uh Austin Rowing Club members just coming west along Ladybird Lake here, seeing 4 or 5 single skulls and a couple of coaches out there as well, so. Yeah, Lake conditions are not optimal. Obviously the water level is high since these rains. It's kind of yucky as well. The water quality does not look nice, uh, but those folks out there from the rowing club certainly making the best of it. I think these ducks are kind of puzzled by All of the uh activity out there. uh, activity levels on the trail itself pretty low, slow start to the week, I think, kind of an overcast muggy day, um. Few folks out walking their dogs, just taking a stroll. Actually haven't seen any of the run clubs out here yet this morning. And there's your snapshot now, just looking east along the Ladybird Lake Trail, uh right at the inner section of Lady Bird Lake and Shoal Creek.
