Republic Square Farmers Market Revives Amidst Eased Construction on 4th Street
Video Transcript
Hey, good morning, everyone. It's Saturday, uh, Jan 21st. It's 8:42. This is Gary. I'm downtown at the Republic Square Farmers' Market. And what I'm noticing today is that the construction, uh, on 4th and Guadalupe seems to be less intrusive at the moment. A week or so ago you could not be standing where I was standing because of road resurfacing and other construction projects, but the noise, the dust, the disruption is a lot better this week. It's even allowed for certain vendors to set up on 4th Street. Uh, it's still early, so folks are literally just setting up out here, but yeah, this is really good to see. Um, let's take a look here. We've got some Mediterranean dishes here, who doesn't love some hummus? Let's take a look. So this is now 4th Street looking north up to Republic Square. And let's take a look into the market proper. vendors are still just setting up for the day. Uh, market actually starts at 9 a.m. Every Saturday here along side Republic Square and the market spans from 4th up to 5th. So this is actually the view now looking up alongside Republic Square Park. I don’t want to get in anybody's way while they're setting up. Here's my buddy from Wuff Dog. And You can just see now, yeah, vendors just putting up the tents. Setting out their displays, and it's still nice cool morning as well out here, so yeah, come on down to the farmers' market, y'all.
Hey y'all, Saturday morning, it's Gary over at the Republic Square Farmers' Market and uh yeah, this wind that's come through is making a little bit tough on vendors this morning. As you can see it's blowing the tents and the displays around a little bit. Vendors still getting set up out here. And uh, yeah, folks, few early birds just starting to arrive. Let's take a little bit, uh, take a look closer to the north end here. This tends to be more the baked goods, teas and coffees. Uh, I always like to swing by and say hi to Dough Mama on Saturday morning. Looks like the tea guy is just, uh, getting his ginger shots set up should be a moment or two. And yeah, this is the far north end of the market now. You can see those beautiful uh sugar skulls outside of Rosen's bagels. They've got a more Mediterranean fare here. Turkish coffees and baklava, a look at things, guys. Yeah, so about 15 minutes time, I think most vendors will be set up and ready to. Rock and roll. I'm gonna stop here and get a cup of coffee actually.
