Morning Serenity: Austin's Peace Officers Memorial Offers Calm Start to the Day
Hey, good morning everyone. This is Gary from City Vibe. Happy Monday, August 18th. 7:32 a.m. And I'm just starting my day, starting my week, uh, exploring the. The monuments that are sit just to the north of the capital. And this, um, Is the peace officers memorial. And um from a distance this. Shiny polished marble bed almost looks like a reflecting pool, uh, particularly in the morning light. Uh, there's a granite obelisk. And then the wall lists all the names. Of the fallen Texas Peace officers. Um, It even wraps around the back. As you can see here. And I noticed just arriving this morning. that somebody had laid flowers. On the marble bed of the monument. This monument is just one of many, uh, that sit here in the north grounds of the state capital. Uh, it's right adjacent to the um. Uh, Vietnam Veteran's monument. And uh this is the view now from the monument just looking back over to the state capital, uh with this beautiful what looks like a a a cedar elm tree I think. Uh, just casting a shadow. In the morning sun
Hey, good morning, everyone. This is Gary from City Vibe. I'm just starting my day, starting my week out on the north grounds of the Texas State Capitol, right next to the Peace Officers Memorial. It's a beautiful quiet time of day to be out here, and the sun really does something quite special at this time of day. Uh, you can see that it breaks through that wall of names. And if you catch it just at the right time, uh, you can even see the sun, uh, reflect through the twin, uh, beams of this obelisk here. Uh, in a strange way, it almost has a stonehenge kind of effect. Um, let me show you what I mean here. You can see the shadow on the grass there. Uh, creates that geometric pattern, and we're underneath these beautiful, um, mature cedar elm trees, and we are right alongside, uh, the Vietnam War Memorial.
