Morning Reflection at Margaret Moser Plaza: A Tribute to Austin's Music Legacy

Hey everyone, it's Friday morning, July 25th, and this is Gary with City Vibe. I'm just easing into the day at Margaret Moser Plaza on West 3rd Street. Uh, this is the site of the old Austin Music Hall and, uh, It's a fitting tribute to the hard partying. Patron saint Of the Austin music scene. From her arrival here in the early 1970s. Until her passing in 2017, uh, Margaret Moser wore many different hats. She was a backup singer. An infamous groupie. Uh, a talented music journalist who wrote, uh, from within the scene rather than as an outsider looking in. Uh, she became a mentor and an advocate, uh, a champion for young Austin musicians and writers, and she pulled all of those threads together as the director of the Austin Music Awards. But those who knew her best simply described Margaret as a force of nature. Uh, I love spending time in this little downtown oasis. Complete with palm trees. Um, grab a cup of coffee from Intelligentsia just across the street and sit and pay homage to someone who shaped the culture of Austin. It's also a great place to get an early start on the weekend. Happy Friday y'all. Hey, y’all Happy Friday. Gary from City Vibe over at Margaret Moser Plaza. Of course the site of the old Austin Music Hall and what a beautiful location this is. It's a little downtown oasis complete with uh palm trees. It sits right in the shadow of the Jenga building. And what a fitting tribute to Margaret Moser, who, uh, helped shape the culture of this city that we love. Uh, it's one of my favorite places on 3rd Street. Grab a cup of coffee from Intelligentsia or a juice from Juiceland next door and, uh, just ease into your day, folks. Happy Friday y'all. I hope you have a great weekend.
