Discover the Serenity and Heritage of Austin's Bremond Block Amidst Its Modern Skyline

Hey, good morning everyone. It's uh June 30th, Monday morning 8:01. And this is Gary. I'm just taking a stroll through one of my favorite Austin neighborhoods. Now on the map, this is referred to as West End. It's uh between Guadalupe and Lamar, north of 6th and south of 15th, uh, but to Austin historians, this particular intersection, 7th and San Antonio is referred to as the Bremond block. Now the Bremond block comprises 11 historical homes that were all built in the second half of the 19th century. And walk with me and I'll show you some of my favorites. What I love about this neighborhood is these mature live oak trees are weaving through the historic buildings. Uh, I just noticed an incredible century cactus right here. And what's interesting about this neighborhood is it sits right on the intersection of the new downtown skyline. In fact, you can just see residences at 6G there. Um, and the old money of Austin's original entrepreneur class. And here it is, folks. This is the crown jewel of the Bremond block. This is Chateau Bellevue, built in the 1870s, uh, so called because it gave a beautiful view, a Bellevue of the Colorado River. Uh, AKA town Lake, AKA Lake Ladybird, and look at that beautiful, uh, Greco-Roman veranda just sitting against the new downtown skyline. Have a great week everyone. Hey everyone, it's Monday morning, June 30th, and this is Gary just easing into the day amongst the mature live oak trees and the historic buildings of the Bremond block. The Bremond block is a collection of 11 historical homes all built in the second half of the 19th century, um, centered around the inner section here of 7th and San Antonio. And what I really like about this is that it's the intersection between the old money of Austin's original entrepreneurial class. And right behind me, the new Austin skyline, in fact, right here we're standing in the shadow of the residences at 5G.
