Quiet Morning at Texas Capitol as Special Session on Redistricting Resumes

Hey, good morning everyone. Gary from City Vibe on Monday morning, July 28th, 9:31 a.m. I'm over at the Texas State Capitol, just walking north up the Great Walk here. Quite a humid morning. I'm already sweating buckets. The uh Pink and gray checkerboard pattern of the pavers here with the shadows Of these historic uh live oak trees and cedar elms. Uh, frame such a beautiful picture. Although this may be the calm before the storm, folks, uh, today marks the start of week two of the special session of the 89th Texas legislature. Uh, of course the marquee issues continue to be, uh, redistricting. There were several public hearings this weekend, uh, one in Houston and, uh, one in Arlington and um. Of course, debate and discussion will continue here throughout the week at the Texas State Capitol. Everyone, Monday morning Gary from City right here. Out at the Texas State Capitol, just looking at the firefighters monument there, uh, turning my back on the Capitol now, just heading towards the intersection of 11th and Congress. Uh, looks to be plain sailing this morning, folks. Beautiful view straight down Congress Avenue over the Congress Avenue bridge. I'm sure if I were to stand on tippy toes and squint my eyes, you could probably even make out Jo’s coffee out there in the distance. Uh, light traffic on the 11th, there's your view to the east, across the inner section and out to the west, but plain sailing this morning on a humid Monday at the state capital.
