Morning Runners Hit Lady Bird Lake Trails Despite Recent Rainfall
Hey, good morning everyone. It's Monday morning, so July 7th, and this is Gary with City Vibe. Out here on the town Lake hike and bike trail. I'm on the little footbridge here that crosses Shoal Creek. Uh, I chose this location deliberately. This is actually the, uh, point of a confluence of Shoal Creek and the Colorado River, of course this section of the Colorado River we know affectionately as Ladybird Lake. So I was interested in taking a look not only at the volume of Human traffic, recreational traffic out here, folks out for a morning run or a morning walk. I was also curious to see what the volume of water is like this morning. Um Since we've had these pretty catastrophic. Rainfalls, um, as you can see, yeah, Shoal Creek is definitely elevated. As is the lake itself. Uh, I don't know if this is a deterrent to people coming out and using the trail. This section, of course, is paved, um, so it's OK on foot at this part of the trail, but I think other sections which are loose gravel are probably waterlogged this morning. Um, here's your view now looking west. On an overcast Monday morning in the ATX
Hey, good morning folks from an overcast humid Monday morning in the ATX. Uh, just out on the town lake hike and bike trail, um, just on the north side of Lake Ladybird walking along, uh, Cesar Chavez. Uh pedestrian traffic pretty light this morning. Um, This section of the, this section of the trail obviously is paved, so it's OK on the foot, but I should imagine anywhere that's not paved is pretty waterlogged this morning. Uh, uh, birds outnumber people by about 10 to 1 right now. You can see these guys. Having breakfast here on this little slip of grass, uh, right in the shadow of the, uh, Jenga building, the Independent and the Google building. Yeah, wonderful juxtaposition of nature and architecture. Hey, have a blessed week, everyone.
