Experience Morning Calm: Discover the 'I Love You' Sculpture's Serene Influence Along Shoal Creek

Hey, good morning everyone. It's Thursday, July 24th, 7:40 a.m. This is Gary from City Vibe. And the truth is I love you. That's the name of this sculpture that sits next to the downtown Public library and the sailboat tower. Uh, framed in a beautiful little rock garden that sits right adjacent to Shoal Creek. Uh, the sculpture is the work of a Brooklyn-based artist, uh, Hank Willis Thomas. And it's a 3D manifestation of a poem that he wrote. Now it comprises of 6 speech bubbles that parse out the phrase. “The truth is I love you” In English and in Spanish la verdad es que te amo. And I think it's just a beautiful affirmation to ease into the day. The artist invites us to consider uh themes of uh our personal truth and how it may differ from others, uh but for me it's even simpler than that, that uh with a message this profound. The language and the medium Is irrelevant, la palabra es la palabra, the word is the word. I hope you have a beautiful day y'all.
