LGBTQ Community and Allies Stand Strong at Texas Capitol: Emotive Protests Amid Special Session

Hey everyone, this is Gary for City vibe over at the Texas State Capitol. It's day 3 of the special session, and, uh, on the agenda is an item which uh, Deals with transgender people only using bathrooms which correspond to their sex assigned at birth. um, obviously a very emotive, evocative issue, and as you can see we have a very dignified protest on the Capitol steps at the moment organized by the LGBTQ community And allies. A small but vocal group of supporters out here and, um, and a photo line. Uh, we have a line of photojournalists. I’ll keep a respectful distance because somebody is actually speaking at the podium right now. I don't want to interrupt anything, um. I can see that there are 3 or 4 law enforcement officers just uh, just up there on the steps. Nothing unusual, of course, with, uh, there been a special session going on, of course, uh, you've got legislators, their aides, lobbyists and other stakeholders, of course, coming and going, so you'd expect to see an increased sheriff's office presence here anyway. And that's your view, just giving you a a conex shot. Looking north up to the main doors of the Texas State Capitol. And the uh protests outside. Um, organized by the LGBTQ community and their allies.
