Video Transcript
Hey everyone, it's Saturday, June 14th, 12:11 p.m. And it's no King's Day. This is Gary. I'm outside the. State capital. I'm at the Westgate. With the iconic Westgate Tower right there behind me. And for now, all quiet on the western front. Um, So tonight is uh the No Kings protest which kicks off, uh, let me rephrase that, hopefully it doesn't kick off, it commences at 5 p.m. It's going to be the first protest in Austin since the anti-ice demonstrations on Monday evening, uh, which unfortunately resulted in the arrest of 13 people. Now the organizers of No Kings are trying to position this as a peaceful, fun Event Um, actually with a with a a circus theme of all things. So, uh, we'll see how that plays out. But as you can see just strolling up, uh, towards the capital, everything, um. Seems just like a usual Saturday over here. The protest begins at 5 p.m., so in about 5 hours' time. Uh, but really no additional infrastructure in place. Uh, there doesn't even seem to be an uptick in, uh, trooper presence right now. Um, maybe it's the calm before the storm, uh, but the optimist in me just hopes that, uh, exactly as the organizers intend, this is a peaceful, fun. Event tonight, 5 p.m. on June 14th.
Hey there everyone, it's Gary outside the state capital. On Saturday A little after 12 noon. Uh, no King's Day, no kings protest starts in about 5 hours' time. Capital business as usual. It's actually a busy tourist day by the look of things, all the families out here taking in the sights. Uh, just panning south now. Uh looking down Congress Avenue, you can see there is no additional police presence. There is no additional infrastructure in place right now. Uh, the only thing that I can see actually at the south gate, um, are several, uh, Ukrainian blue and yellow flags out there as often is the way in Austin, uh, there are often multiple events layered, one on the other. Uh And here's your view, just looking at the Capitol building, so. Uh, maybe it's a lull before the storm. Hopefully everything goes off peacefully tonight, 5 p.m., no King's Day.
