UT Tower Revamp. University of Texas UT Tower Undergoes Major Renovation Amidst Extensive Landscaping Upgrades

Hey, good morning, everyone. It's July 9th, 10:34 a.m. and this is Gary with City Vibe over the 40 acres of the University of Texas, uh, right at the base of the UT Tower. UT Tower undergoing a major renovation project this summer. Uh, the project has the tagline, “Our tower, the next 100 years”. Uh, what caught me by surprise today though as I rounded the corner into the main mall. Uh, was the landscaping work that's going on out here. So the two areas of grass that sit on the main mall to the left and the right of the tower, as you can see, uh, have been scraped back to dirt. Uh, looks like there's some additional irrigation going on in here and talking to a couple of the uh facilities guys, uh, they tell me that grass is going back on both sides, um. But the front third are going to be flower beds, as you can see here by this fence line, hence the additional irrigation that's been laid down, and I think a similar project also on the lawn on the other side of the tower.
