Video Transcript
Hey everyone, it's Wednesday morning, June 18th, 9:44 This is Gary. I'm over at the 40 acres. This is Turtle Pond. It's right on inner campus drive at the base of the UT Tower. A real popular location. Both in the water, a few turtles swimming up to us right here. There's a few up there on the rocks, but it's also a, stopping point for a lot of the campus tour groups that come around over the summer. Uh The UT Tower is actually undergoing quite an extensive renovation project at the moment, uh, really making sure that the tower is pristine, uh, for the next 100 years, um. And Turtle ponds also has an another purpose, it's also a space to reflect on the tragedy that unfolded here, um, in 1966. Anybody who's familiar with the history of UT knows, um, that August 1, 1966 was a very dark day for the UT community, so. Um, I guess life is all about light and shade, literally and figuratively, and, uh, this is the view from beautiful. Turtle pond on a sunny June, morning.
