Weekend Rush: Austin Streets Hustle as Locals Head Out
Video Transcript
Hey y'all, this is Gary checking in from uh University of Texas. I'm on the southwest corner of campus. I'm actually right by the Harry Ransom Center and I'm close to the inter section of, uh, Guadalupe and 21st. It's Friday afternoon, 4:11. p.m. and uh today's date is March 14th. And let's see what we've got here. So we're looking at Target just across the street. Um, this inter section is usually, uh, really congested and quite tricky, but I noticed today that there is construction at the intersection of 21st and Wittis and it's created a pinch point. So traffic through this intersection is a lot lighter than usual. What I am seeing though is increased pedestrian traffic. You can see the red bus outside of the Dobbie. These are the out of town buses for folks who are leaving on Friday afternoon and the spring breakers as well. So yeah, traffic through the inter section not too bad. A lot of foot traffic through the inner section. Um, and that's your view from the southwest corner of UT on Friday afternoon.
Hey y'all, it's Gary just checking in from the southwest corner of UT, uh, right outside the Target and the Dobbie Mall, and I'm at the inter section of 21st and uh Guadalupe and right behind me just about there, you can see the Daniel Johnson mural, uh, which is often a pilgrimage site for musicians and music fans who come in town for South by Southwest. Not seeing anybody over there at the moment, as you can see behind me, the congestion is largely due to folks trying to get out of town on the uh the buses for the weekend or for spring break. So there you have it. That's your view from the southwest corner of UT on Friday afternoon.
