Morning at the Capitol: A Tranquil Start on Historical Grounds in Austin
Hey, good morning everyone. It's uh. August 26th, it's a Tuesday morning. 821. And this is Gary. From City vibe, I'm just starting my day off over in the north grounds of the Texas State Capitol. This actually is the old, A pedestrian gate that sits uh just to the north of the Capitol building which is uh, Right behind me there. And uh It's amazing how much the capital grounds have expanded, you know, what was once the Northgate. Uh Now to the north of here is the entire. Uh, Capital extension and then another 4 blocks of the Capitol Mall beyond that. Uh, so it's interesting to see this original sort of property line out here. The, uh, the granite pillars are actually original. Uh, the gate itself is a reproduction, uh, but it's positioned, uh, exactly where it was. Prior to the capital extension project. And uh yeah, great bit of history. Also like the fact that it's It's framed by this beautiful flower garden. Uh, that sits alongside the capital extension. Yeah, great way just to ease into the day.
Hey Gary from City Vibe here, it's uh 8:24 on Tuesday morning. August 26th. Just enjoying the serenity of the Capitol grounds of the Texas State Capitol. Uh, the original North pedestrian gate is right behind me here. And it's always interesting to see just how much the complex has expanded over the years, of course, to the north of this. Uh, old gate, uh, is now the entire, uh, capital extension project and then beyond that is the Capitol Mall. Uh, these beautiful flower beds that actually, um, These beautiful flower beds that actually sit around the perimeter of uh part of the extension are named after, uh, Ladybird Johnson, of course. She not only gets the lake named after her, but uh also these beautiful flower beds are a nice tribute to. The first, uh, the first lady and her passion for. Uh Texas flora and fauna, and it really is a beautiful way just to ease into the day with the sun rising there in the east.
