Historic Seaholm Intake Plant Opens for Decade-Only Event with Trail Conservancy Fundraiser
Video Transcript
Hey everyone, it's Saturday, June 7th at 11 a.m. and this is Gary. I'm downtown, uh, on Cesar Chavez, right by the Seaholm Power plant and the Central Library. And this is the old Seaholm inlet plant that just sits on the north shore of Lady Bird Lake, and I want to bring you a a once in a decade opportunity to actually go inside this inlet plant. It's open today as part of the uh kids street party that the library is hosting and here we are. As you can see, we've also got our friends from the trail Conservancy here as well, and the ladies were telling me that they're actually fundraising to try and make this part of the trail. Here's some photographs of the old power plant in her heyday, and this is a view that you will rarely get to see. To look out, uh, over Lady Bird Lake through the old dirty windows of the Seaholm power plant. There it is. In fact, we're even blessed we can see a kayaker out there. Let me just give you one more 360 degree tour of the inside of the old seaholm Intake facility just on the south side of Cesar Chavez.
