Pedestrian Hustle at UT Austin's Iconic Canoe Sculpture
Video Transcript
Hey y'all, it's Gary checking in from the University of Texas. It's a Monday, 12:53 p.m. It's March 24th. I'm right outside of the Cockrell School of Engineering across from the iconic canoe sculpture. Um, the street behind me is the pedestrianized section of Speedway, and, uh, I believe this street here is referred to as inner campus drive, um. So vehicle traffic is actually restricted on these roads, and really the only thing you're going to see are bicycles, um, golf carts, and the occasional utility guy, utilities or facilities guy, um, in a truck. But what is remarkable is the amount of pedestrian traffic at this intersection. So that's your view, uh from the pedestrianized section of Speedway right by the canoe sculpture outside the School of Engineering.
Hey y'all, it's Gary checking in from the University of Texas. Monday lunchtime. It's uh March 24th at 12:57. We're on the pedestrianized section of Speedway, uh, walking now towards uh Dean Keaton. Uh, which should be walking north and uh just wanted to give you a feel for what typical pedestrian traffic is like here. I think the rhythm of campus is that traffic spikes at the top of each hour as classes rotate out. Um, so this is really what you're seeing behind me. Fortunately, vehicle traffic is restricted on these roads, so it's only going to be, uh, facilities, guys, like the one coming up behind me or folks on golf carts or scooters or bikes. So that's your view from outside of the mathematics building now on the corner of Speedway and Dean Keaton on a beautiful March morning.
